Christy Spangler

Executive Director

Christy Spangler has been active in the human services field for over twenty-five years and has been working in a management position for over ten. She has experience working as a director at both the center and the regional levels. She is passionate about team building and team culture.

Sandra Kahn, LCMHC

Clinical Director

Sandra joined the Tapestry Brevard team after working at Tapestry’s adolescent program in Fletcher. Previous to this, she directed the educational efforts at a private practice, while also offering treatment to clients as a credentialed process addiction counselor. Her focus includes trauma treatment, as well as bringing practical acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) recovery tools to clients. She brings compassion and experience in an effort to strengthen clients’ resources in the midst of eating disorder and mental health challenges. On her days away from our treatment center she enjoys adventures with her dog and the beauty that surrounds us in North Carolina.

Cristen “Delaney” Gill

Therapist

Delaney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Appalachian State University in 2022. She is passionate about holding an open, joyful and safe space for healing, welcome to all, from eating disorder treatment to working through complex trauma. She uses an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) based approach, supported by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), polyvagal theory and principles of EMDR. She previously worked at Broughton State Hospital and completed an internship at Jonas Hill Hospital & Clinic.

Eden Schwartz, LCMHC-A

Counselor

Eden is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and received her Masters in Counseling from Lenoir Rhyne University in 2022. She is passionate about using a person-centered approach with clients to promote a strong therapeutic alliance, empathy and unconditional positive regard. Eden also likes to incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy, polyvagal theory and expressive arts therapy into her counseling sessions. Eden values safety, acceptance and collaboration to encourage healing and awakening of one’s authentic self. In her free time, Eden likes to ride horses and spend time playing with her dogs in Pisgah National Forest.

Sarah Rice, RD, LD

Dietitian

As a Registered Dietitian at Tapestry Brevard, Sarah is responsible for evaluating clients for nutritional deficiencies as well as any maladaptive coping skills and weight-related behaviors and beliefs. Sarah provides nutrition therapy and education to promote recovery and restoration of health by implementing principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size. Sarah utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities including exposure therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to challenge food fears and negative thought patterns that maintain the eating disorder. Ultimately, Sarah seeks to support clients on their journey to food freedom by cultivating a safe space for clients to reconnect with their inner wisdom and authenticity through kind and compassionate care.

Sarah is a Registered Dietitian with 6+ years’ experience working in clinical nutrition, food service management, community nutrition outreach and corporate wellness. She obtained her Bachelor of Science and completed her Dietetic Internship from The University of Kentucky. When she is not working, Sarah enjoys time with her family and yellow lab, Avery, mountain biking, paddle boarding, hiking, cooking and reading.

Destiny Swinehart, RN

Registered Nurse

Destiny Swinehart is the nurse for both the Brevard and Fletcher locations. She graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in 2022 with honors in the ADN program. She is a licensed foster parent in her county of residence and has been for three years. She has a passion for working in the mental health field since it is such an underserved population. She plans to continue her education and eventually gain her Nurse Practitioner license with a specialty in mental health/psychiatry.
