Trauma Therapy

Compassionate Care from a Team That Listens

Traumatic events have a powerful impact on our brains. It can be difficult for people who have never experienced trauma to understand what you’re going through, which may discourage you from speaking up about your pain. It’s important not to sit on these feelings or try to cover them up. Friends and family, while well-meaning, may not always be able to provide the help you need, but that doesn’t mean that no one can. At Tapestry, we have a dedicated trauma program where you will be able to speak with experienced trauma therapists, others who have experienced trauma, and a supportive staff that is committed to helping you.

Our trauma program assesses clients individually to determine the appropriate phase of treatment for each person. We embrace a trauma-focused, relational model with a strong emphasis on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as neuroscience and holistic healing modalities.

Common themes we address in our trauma program include:

  • Attachment issues
  • Safety
  • Connection

If you are suffering from trauma, or suspect that someone you love might be dealing with it, call (828) 490-4032 today. We serve Asheville and the western North Carolina area as well as the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania.

Identifying Trauma

Trauma comes in many forms. It’s possible for someone to go through a traumatic event and not even realize it – but that doesn’t mean they aren’t affected by it. Trauma could be caused by a single event like a car accident or an ongoing process that created feelings of intense stress, anxiety, and disempowerment, such as an abusive relationship.

People who have gone through trauma often experience:

  • Disbelief or denial
  • Mood swings
  • Anxiety
  • Guilt and self-blame
  • Reclusive behavior
  • Feelings of despair and depression
  • Insomnia and/or nightmares
  • Agitation, jumpiness
  • Flashbacks

Everyone experiences trauma differently, so you may experience symptoms different from those above. Trust your instincts, and talk to a mental health professional if you believe you are experiencing the effects of trauma.

The compassionate team at Tapestry is here to help. Call us today at (828) 490-4032 to learn more about our holistic approach to trauma therapy.
