Our Philosophy

Clinical Philosophy

Equipping Clients for Life in the Outside World

The core component of Tapestry’s treatment philosophy is that suffering from mental health issues is rooted in experiential avoidance. Substance use, disordered eating and isolation are examples of ways people attempt to find relief from pain and distress. We believe that mental health issues have neurological, physiological, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual implications that need to be addressed in order to successfully heal and live a meaningful life. At Tapestry, we embrace a trauma-focused, relational model with strong clinical emphasis on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), neuroscience and holistic healing modalities.

Treatment, to be successful, must provide a therapeutic environment where behavioral and intrinsic changes can occur within the context of collaborative relationships. We do not believe that one model of treatment or recovery is appropriate for everyone. Our treatment program is dedicated to understanding our clients as whole people with varied life experiences.

Treatment Philosophy

The core tenets of Tapestry’s treatment philosophy are:

  • We are client-centered: Treatment planning is individualized, skill-based, supportive and personal. We work with clients toward motivational enhancement in a natural living environment.
  • We are community-based: We feel that our residents benefit from being involved in a real-world setting. Therefore, our program takes residents out into our community to practice new skills in the real world.
  • All treatment is voluntary: This means that the client participates and our dedicated staff helps them—every step of the way.

Treatment programs we offer include:

While Tapestry was founded to treat eating disorders, we apply our unique clinical philosophy to all of the behavioral health programs offered at our facility. We develop customized treatment plans that care for each client based on their personal experiences – all in the comfort of a center that feels more like home than a sterile hospital environment.
